Unpaid Salaries Drive Ambulance Workers to Indefinite Strike in Jamshedpur

Ambulance drivers and EMTs of Jamshedpur government hospitals stage strike and demonstration due to unpaid salaries for the past five months.

JAMSHEDPUR – In Jamshedpur, ambulance drivers and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) of government hospitals have found themselves in a situation of hunger due to the non-payment of their salaries for the past five months.

To protest against this unjust treatment, the drivers and EMTs have decided to go on strike and have started demonstrating in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

The situation is worsening every day for these essential workers, who operate the 108 ambulances in the East Singhbhum district.

The non-payment of their salaries is leading to immense hardships for the drivers’ and technicians’ families, who are now confronting the specter of starvation.

The drivers have expressed their distress over the fact that despite their salaries not being paid, deductions are being made from their provident fund (PF) accounts.

They have also stated that over the past several months, their salaries have not been paid on time, despite multiple attempts to communicate their grievances.

Turning their despair into action, these essential workers have now been on an indefinite strike for the past four days.

They are demonstrating in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, and have vowed to continue their strike until their demands for just compensation are met.
