38-year-old Sharda Devi of Bhuiadih Gwala Basti is suspected to have drowned at Babudih Ghat in Swarnrekha river; search operations continue.

JAMSHEDPUR – On Friday 4th August, Bhuiyandih Gwala Basti resident Sharda Devi (38), wife of Laljit Gupta, reportedly drowned at the Babudih Chhath Ghat.

She has been missing since that evening and no traces of her were found until the time of reporting on the subsequent day, Saturday 5th August.

At around 7 pm on August 4th, Sharda had left her home telling her family that she would return shortly.

However, she did not return, leading her family members to commence a search.

In their search, they discovered her sandals and chunni near the Babudih Chhath Ghat, sparking concerns that she might have drowned.

During their investigation, some locals reported seeing a body in the Babunnagar river near the Vijay Garden, leading the NDRF team to resume the search in that area.
