Forest Workers Protest Suspension, Threaten Indefinite Fast
Jharkhand Rajya Avar Van Seva Sangh protests against suspension of forest personnel, threatens indefinite fast.
CHATRA – Under the umbrella of the Jharkhand Rajya Avar Van Seva Sangh, forest workers went on a one-day strike.
This protest was in response to the suspension of several forest personnel, a move that the forest workers vehemently oppose.
The demonstration took place in the premises of the Forest Division Office, where the forest workers demanded the immediate reinstatement of the suspended personnel.
They voiced their grievances to DFO Rajeev Kumar Meena, warning him that they would embark on an indefinite fast if their demands were not met.
The suspensions were issued following a viral video of an elderly man being penalized for collecting dry firewood in the Pratappur Forest Division area.
This led to the Chief Minister’s intervention and subsequent suspension orders by DC Abu Imran.
The striking forest workers maintain that the suspended personnel are innocent and have been wrongly accused.
