Amit Shah to Launch ‘Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar’ Initiative Tomorrow

Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar launched by Amit Shah aims to virtually map India’s 6.5 lakh villages.

Desk – Tomorrow, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah will introduce a new programme “Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar.”

The initiative, developed under the National Mission on Cultural Mapping, aims to culturally map India’s 6.5 lakh villages using a comprehensive virtual platform.

The formal introduction of the platform will take place at Qutub Minar at 7 PM through a grand projection mapping performance.

The initiative, a brainchild of the Ministry of Culture, was developed in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).

The “Mera Gaon Meri Dharohar” (MGMD) project aspires to encapsulate the rich cultural heritage of rural India, aiming to promote respect for Indian culture and traditions and bring economic prosperity and social peace to these communities.

Grand Unveiling at Qutub Minar

Tomorrow’s unveiling ceremony will be held at Qutub Minar from 11 AM to 10 PM. The launch event will allow visitors to digitally traverse and explore Indian communities.

The exhibition booths will showcase the cultural delights each hamlet has to offer, and a special projection mapping show on Qutub Minar will tell the tales of numerous handpicked communities in India.

Interactive Dialogue and Cultural Performances

The MGMD Launch Film will provide a compelling narrative that strengthens the connection to our cultural roots. A unique “Samvaad” between participants from various villages and Shri Amit Shah forms part of the programme, offering an exceptional opportunity to engage with the heart of Indian communities. The ceremony will conclude with a musical performance by acclaimed musicians Javed Ali and Anweshaa.

Virtual Exploration of India’s Villages

Under the umbrella of the National Mission on Cultural Mapping (NMCM), MGMD presents an immersive experience of India’s culture, showcasing key details such as traditional clothing, jewellery, arts and crafts, temples, fairs, festivals, and more. This extensive gateway serves as a central hub for learning about and virtually visiting every village in the country.
