Jharkhand State Championship-cum-Selection Trials: Pathway for Shuttlers to East Zone Badminton Championship

Over 100 aspiring athletes from Jharkhand to showcase their talent in state championship and selection trials in Dumka.

JAMSHEDPUR – The pathway to represent Jharkhand in the East Zone Badminton Championship has opened for statewide shuttlers, as they get ready to showcase their talents and compete in the state championship-cum-selection trials.

This event will take place in Dumka from July 21 to July 23.

More than 100 aspiring athletes in the under-19 and senior (men and women) age groups will participate in these state meet and selection trials.

The Dumka District Badminton Association is orchestrating the tournament under the guidance of Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA).

K Prabhakar Rao, JBA secretary, expresses his anticipation for their shuttlers to perform exceptionally well in the trials. According to him, Jharkhand has a robust squad of shuttlers in the senior and under-19 age groups, and they have high expectations for their performance in the East Zone competition. This tournament is set to take place from August 11 to August 14 at Star Academy Harinavi Goria in Kolkata.

Rao, who also holds the position of the joint secretary of the Badminton Association of India, believes that the improved infrastructure, such as the restored Mohan Ahuja Stadium in Jamshedpur, will be instrumental in fostering more shuttlers. In his words, "Better infrastructure is always beneficial to athletes’ continued growth."
