JAMSHEDPUR – In a shocking turn of events, Vijay Kumar Nirala, a former IL-2 level officer at Tata Steel, reportedly committed suicide on Saturday morning by allegedly jumping in front of a train near the Jugsalai railway gate in Jamshedpur.
Nirala resided at Hurlung Road, Kadma in the quarters provided by Tata Steel.
The Incident
Sources reveal that Nirala had been relieved of his duties at Tata Steel about two months ago following serious allegations against him.
The company took action to terminate his employment after a thorough investigation.

Despite his dismissal, he was still residing in the quarters provided by Tata Steel at the time of the incident.
The tragedy occurred around 11:00 am when he abruptly jumped in front of a passing train near the Jugsalai railway gate, leading to his immediate death.
Repercussions and Mourning
Following the unfortunate incident, an atmosphere of mourning has enveloped both the Tata Steel fraternity and Nirala’s own family.
He is survived by his wife and other family members.

His relatives have conveyed that he had been suffering from mental distress following his dismissal from Tata Steel, which may have driven him to take the drastic step.
