Menjo Hembram’s family faces death threats and encroachment on their ancestral land, located in Haludbani Namotola under Parsudih police jurisdiction, seeking protection and intervention.
JAMSHEDPUR – Menjo Hembram has come forward alleging that local goons have unlawfully occupied her family’s ancestral land in Haludbani Namotola, falling under the Parsudih police station’s authority.
The encroachment has resulted in persistent death threats towards the family, with the situation remaining unchanged even after marking the property boundaries.
The family’s fear is heightened by their apprehension that the local Parsudih police station may not extend the necessary protection, leading them to lodge a complaint with the Jamshedpur Circle Officer.
Menjo Hembram maintains that the disputed property is lawfully owned by her grandfather and father-in-law.
She narrated how on June 18, a few persons, trespassed her property and started excavation activities without her consent.
According to Hembram, the trespassers didn’t just stop at property invasion; they also resorted to caste-based slurs and other derogatory remarks on the day of the incident.
Following the incident, the family registered a complaint with the police, but to no avail.
The news of the encroachment reached Hembram through a relative, leading her to realize that her family’s property was under threat without adequate government protection.
As a member of the tribal community, Hembram also approached the SC-ST police station in Birsanagar to register a complaint, but her efforts bore no fruit.
Finally, Hembram has demanded that Section 144 be implemented on the disputed property by the Circle Officer to ensure their safety and protection.
