Tata Cummins Employees Protest Over Delayed Wage Revision, Union President Intercedes

Tata Cummins employees agitated over the delay in wage revision, the plant head was absent during their protest, while Union President Diptendu Chakraborty handled the situation.

JAMSHEDPUR – As wage revision in Tata Cummins is getting delayed, the employees’ impatience is mounting.

Once again, they reached the plant head’s office on Monday to besiege him, but like last time, the plant head left upon hearing about the workers’ arrival.

Following this, Union President Diptendu Chakraborty stepped in, this incident took place around 2 pm.

A group of workers reached the plant head’s office to question the delay in wage revision settlement, but he was not present.

They then moved on to the union office where they directed their queries to the president.

The employees highlighted that the wage revision has been pending for 18 months, but no agreement has been reached so far.

Some employees suggested limiting the wage revision agreement to a period of 3 years.

Others deemed the proposed package of Rs 18,000 as low for a 4 years agreement.

President Diptendu Chakraborty assured the employees that the union is persistently striving for a better agreement.

After about half an hour’s siege, the employees left.

It’s worth noting that the employees’ wage revision agreement has been pending since April 2022.

During the last protest, IR head Bhikam Singh had promised to resolve the issue within two days.
