Tata Steel Subsidiaries’ Unions Merge to Form Tata Wire Employees Union

JAMSHEDPUR – Members of the ISWP (formerly Wire Company) and Jamshedpur Engineering and Machine Manufacturing Company (Jemco) unions approved the merger proposal with an overwhelming majority on Saturday.

The new union will be named Tata Wire Employees Union.

Separate annual general meetings of the Wire Product Labour Union and Jemco Workers Union were held prior to the merger.

The Jemco Union’s meeting began at 5 PM, presided over by President Rakeshwar Pandey, with General Secretary Amit Sarkar presenting the report and accounts, which were unanimously approved by all attendees.

The merger proposal, put forth by the General Secretary, was also unanimously accepted.

The Wire Product Labour Union’s general meeting followed, where President Rakeshwar Pandey led a moment of silence for the deceased.

General Secretary presented the union’s accounts, which were approved by the members.

The merger proposal was again unanimously passed.

A combined general meeting of both unions was subsequently held, with all members present at the venue.

During this meeting, the proposal for the new union name, Tata Wire Employees Union, was put forward and unanimously approved.

The entire program saw the presence of INTUC Joint General Secretary Mahendra Mishra, who expressed his support.

The newly appointed President, Rakeshwar Pandey, extended his gratitude to all attendees.

The meeting was attended by General Secretary Pankaj Singh, Shrikant Singh, Dani Shankar Tiwari, Amrik Singh, Manjit Singh, Gurvinder Singh, and all committee members.

It is noteworthy that Tata Steel’s board has approved the merger of seven subsidiary companies, including The Indian Steel and Wire Products.
