Promotion Wave: 24 Jharkhand DSPs Elevated to IPS

Jharkhand witnesses a significant promotion wave as 24 DSPs ascend to IPS, marking a significant stride in the police department’s growth.

RANCHI – The state of Jharkhand is experiencing a significant shift in its police department with the promotion of 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the Indian Police Service (IPS). This significant career progression has been pending since 2016 and comes after the approval of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) board.

A total of 45 officers from the State Police Service have been promoted to IPS till now. These promotions include nine positions filled in 2017, four in 2018, five in 2019, and six in 2020.

Prominent among the newly minted IPS officers are Tandwa SDPO Shambhu Kumar Singh, Amit Kumar Singh of Barkagaon SDPO, Arvind Kumar Singh from Dhanbad Headquarters, and Pujya Prakash of Hussainabad SDPO. Other key promotions include Jharkhand’s Communication and Technical Service ASP Sarojini Lakda, ACB Ranchi ASP Emelda Ekka, ACB Senior DSP Sadiq Anwar Rizvi, and Senior DSP Vikas Kumar Pandey of ZAP-10 Ranchi.

More Promotions from Different Cadres

Senior DSP Vijay Ashish Kujur from Jungle Warfare School Netarhat, Deepak Kumar Sharma of Jharkhand’s Special Branch, and Ajay Kumar Sinha from the Special Branch have also been promoted. Other officers like Senior DSP Anudeep Singh from Special India Reserve Battalion-2 Khunti and Rajkumar Mehta of Zap-7 Hazaribagh have been elevated to IPS.

Promotions from ACB Ranchi and Other Departments

ACB Ranchi Senior DSP Sahdev Sao, Balumath SDPO and Senior DSP Ajit Kumar, and Khalari Ranchi Senior DSP Animesh Naithani have been promoted to IPS. Lohardaga Campaign Senior DSP Deepak Kumar Pandey is among the officers who received this honour.

Further, Ajay Kumar-1 from Bundu, Ranchi, Arif Ekram of the Composite Control Room, and Manish Toppo from SIB Ranchi, along with Kailash Karmali from Latehar Headquarters and Pitambar Singh Kherwar from Nirsa have all ascended to IPS.

The finalization of these promotions took place on Thursday, June 24, following the issuance of a notification dated June 19.
