Jharia Division of Tata Steel receives the prestigious Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award 2023 for the innovative use of industrial rejects in sustainable mining.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel, Jharia Division, has been conferred with the esteemed Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award for 2023.
This recognition celebrates Tata Steel’s remarkable commitment to sustainable mining, notably its innovative approach to utilizing industrial rejects for storage in underground coal mines.
The award was presented by Hon’ble Justice M.N. Venkatachaliah, former Chief Justice of India, during the 24th International Conference on Environmental Management and Climate Change. The event was organized under the aegis of the Institute of Directors (IOD).
Tata Steel’s Jamadoba Group Chief, Narendra Kumar Gupta, and Jharia Planning Head, Raj Ankur, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

The Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award assesses entries based on several project parameters, including material efficiency, environmental impact, benefits of new processes and products, and economic value delivery.
