Tata Steel’s mines achieve top honors in environmental and conservation categories
In a significant industry event, Tata Steel’s mines have captured 10 prestigious awards at the 30th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) week held in Ranchi. This event underscores Tata Steel’s commitment to sustainable mining practices and technological innovation.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s Noamundi and Vijaya-II Iron Mines, located in Jharkhand, stood out at the MEMC week, organized by the Indian Bureau of Mines.
Achievements in Mining Excellence
The Noamundi Iron Mine was awarded the highest honor in the Overall Performance category for the A-1 group of mines. This accolade recognizes the mine’s exceptional handling of mineral conservation, beneficiation, and sustainable development. Additionally, the mine received runner-up awards for its efforts in afforestation and land reclamation.
Recognition Across Categories
Meanwhile, the Vijaya-II Iron Mine received the top award for Systematic and Scientific Mining. It also secured runner-up positions in Waste Dump Management and Publicity and Propaganda, further highlighting Tata Steel’s operational excellence.
Corporate Commitment to Sustainability
The awards ceremony saw Tata Steel winning the first prize for its informative stall display, which showcased its dedication to mine conservation and environmental sustainability.
Shailendra Kumar, Controller of Mines, Eastern Zone, IBM, presented the awards, celebrating Tata Steel’s industry-leading practices.
A total of 75 awards were distributed to various mines during the event, which saw participation from 31 mines across the state.
