Locals Foil Bid to Damage Public Drain in Jamshedpur
Efforts to damage public drain worth over 2 crores in Jamshedpur were halted following protests by local residents.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a blatant display of disregard for rules, land dealers’ dominance is becoming increasingly visible in the city of Jamshedpur.
A recent attempt was made to occupy a government-constructed drain in the heart of the urban area.
The locals say that this drain, built at a cost of over 2 crores to control flood water in the settlements, was being damaged with the Mango Municipal Corporation remaining a silent observer.

However, this disregard for public property and wellbeing did not go unnoticed.
When the local people, including Pankaj Kumar, Anil Mishra, and Ashok Kumar Singh, protested against this activity, it forced the local police station to intervene.
Pankaj Kumar said that the local police halted the unlawful operation, putting a stop to the attempt to damage the drain.
The locals said that the drain in question had solved many issues for the residents, as it effectively prevented flood water from entering the area.
Its demolition would have been a significant setback for the local residents, they said.
