Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate New Parliament House on May 28

PM Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the newly constructed Parliament House, featuring enhanced capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, on May 28.

Desk: India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is scheduled to inaugurate the new Parliament House on May 28.

The announcement was made following a meeting between Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and PM Modi, during which Birla extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to dedicate the new building to the nation.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat informed the media about this important meeting.

In 2019, members from both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha had appealed to the Central Government for a new Parliament House.

This led to PM Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone in 2020. The newly completed Parliament House, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, has been constructed maintaining high-quality standards in record time.

The new four-storey Parliament House will offer rooms for parties, ministers, and Members of Parliament. It also incorporates many changes catering to modern needs compared to the old parliament house.

While the old Parliament House could accommodate 550 members in the Lok Sabha and 250 in the Rajya Sabha, the new building expands the seating arrangement to house 888 members in the Lok Sabha and 384 in the Rajya Sabha.

The new building also boasts of a dedicated constitution room and facilities such as a library, canteen, and lounge.

The inauguration of the new Parliament building marks a significant upgrade in facilities for the MPs.
