Ramiz Raja’s PJL for junior cricketers of Pakistan has been disbanded by the new chieftains of PCB.
How Ramiz Raja fares as a cricket administrator is being debated fiercely. However, many agree that Ramiz has done many commendable works during his tenure as the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). One of them was the Pakistan Junior League or PJL.
But that PJL has now been disbanded after the change of guards at PCB.
The new PCB chairman Najam Sethi discontinued the Pakistan Junior League after receiving new responsibility.
According to the PCB’s statement, the PCB’s management committee has agreed not to run the PJL anymore.
However, to keep the path clear for young cricketers to grow and bring out more talent, it has been decided to organize age-wise series at home and abroad on a regular basis.
Apart from this, it has also been decided to discuss with the franchises about keeping one under-19 cricketer in the emerging category in the XI of each match of the Pakistan Super League.
PCB organized PJL for the first time last October with under-19 cricketers.
Bhawalpur Royals, the brainchild of the then chairman Ramiz Raja, had won the tournament.
