3 Maoists arrested in West Singhbhum, 5 rifles, 17 bullets recovered

In a major success in the drive against naxals, the West Singhbhum police arrested 3 Maoists, including an area commander carrying a reward of Rs. 2 lakh for his arrest. 5 rifles of 315 bore and 17 live cartridges were also recovered from their possession.

Chaibasa: The Superintendent of Police of West Singhbhum district received a tip-off that the Area Commander of PLFI militant organization S K Ram alias Sahu ji was is staying with his squad members in a newly constructed house in village Borotika, Bhuiyan Toli under Anandpur police station.

For verification of the above information and necessary action, a raiding team was formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Manoharpur Daud Kido as per the instructions of the Superintendent of Police.

The raid was conducted by the raiding team in village Borotika Bhuiyan Tola.

During the raid 3 persons were arrested by the police with illegal weapons from a newly constructed house.

During interrogation the identity of the arrested persons was established. Those arrested were S K Ram, age about 35 years, father Late R K Ram of village Saridkel police station, Torpa district Khunti, Raju Bhuiyan age about 19 years of age, father B Bhuiyan village Borotika Jharia Tola police station Anandpur district Posingbhum, Chaibasa and M Singh, age 19 years, father R Singh of village Borotika Jharia Tola police station, Anandpur district, West Singhbhum, Chaibasa.

In the course of interrogation, S K Ram described himself as the Area Commander of the banned extremist PLFI and also called R Bhuiya and M Singh as active members of PLFI organization.

The police said that S K Ram alias Sahu ji is a reward-carrying Maoist. The reward of Rs. 2 lakh was announced for his arrest.

S K Ram, the area commander of PLFI militant organization Chaibasa, is synonymous with terror in the border areas of Simdega Khunti district, the police said.

Dozens of cases have been registered against him in Anandpur, Manoharpur, Guddi, Bisra, Bandgaon, and Bano police station areas.

Apart from five rifles of 315 bore, 17 live bullets have also been recovered from the arrested Maoists.

The police of West Singhbhum is considering it as a big success.
