CBSE Class 12 results by July 31, board proposes 40-30-30 formula for marking

Next hearing scheduled for June 21

New Delhi: The Attorney General of India has submitted the Scheme for 12th Marking for CBSE students in the Supreme Court today. According to this scheme, the marking will be done on the basis of student’s performance in final exams of Classes 10, 11 and in pre-board exams of class 12. The results will be announced by July 31 next.

40 pc marks will depend on Class 12 pre-bard exams, 30 pc on Class 11 final exam and 30 pc will be based on best-of-3 class 10 marks, the AG told the courts.

This scheme was prepared by a high-powered committee for Class 12 results of 2021 exams.

The Class 12 exams were cancelled due to rise in Corona cases in the country.

To ensure that schools do not award liberal marks just for boosting the performance of their students and engage in oneupmanship, the AG K K Venugopal said that a ‘moderation committee’ would also be formed.

This committee will be constituted by including two of the senior most teachers in the school. If required, a third expert will also be appointed.

The SC has in principle agree with the CBSE’s scheme.

On the CISCE has submitted that it would consider the marking on the basis of performance of students in last six classes.

The matter would be heard again on June 21.
