Former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Sajal Chakraborty passes away
Jamshedpur: The former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, Sajal Chakraborty, is no more. He died in Bengaluru Thursday. He was treated for coronary disease. He also had other health-related issues. He was taken to Bengaluru for treatment.
Known for his flamboyance and outspoken attitude, Sajal Chakraborty, was a well-known figure in administrative and political circles.
Sajal Chakraborty was also the Deputy Commissioner of West Singhbhum (Chaibasa) in undivided Bihar between 1992 to 1995. He was close links with Kolhan.
Sajal Chakraborty had an overarching and overweighing personality and that gave him a distinct identity.
He had started his career as a journalist in an English daily of Ranchi. Later, he cleared the Civil Services examination in 1980.
During 90s he was counted among the most favourite officers of the then Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav.
His name had also cropped in fodder scam.
Sajal Chakraborty originally hailed from Ranchi. He was 64. He was born on March 19, 1956 in Ranchi. He worked as the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand from May 30, 2014 to December 30, 2016.
He retired from Indian Administrative Service in 2016.
