Campaigning on Dumka and Bermo seats draws to an end, both sides confident of victory

Ranchi: The campaigning for Jharkhand Assembly by-elections in two constituencies – Dumka and Bermo – ended Sunday evening. The voting is slated to be held on November 3, 2020 on both the seats.

Soon after returning to the capital, the Chief Minister Hemant Soren appealed to the voters of the two seats to ensure that they do exercise their right to vote.

Hemant Soren also launched a scathing attack on BJP while speaking to the media. He said that BJP does not believe in democracy and they are trying to create new political dimensions in Jharkhand as well as the country, which is not right. He said that horse-trading and money power have no place in a democracy.

Criticising the much discussed statement of the state BJP president, in which he had said that the BJP would soon unseat the ruling alliance in Jharkhand too, he said that such attempts to dislodge a democratically elected government would prove damaging for our democracy.

He said that use of money power to buy support should not be attempted.

Meanwhile, the president of Jharkhand State Congress Committee and Finance and Food Supplies minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon today claimed that Congress-JMM alliance would win both the seats with a big margin. He said that there is no doubt over victory, only the margin of victory is to be seen.

Congress leaders included Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam, Health Minister Banna Gupta and Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh along with a team of senior Congress leaders worked hard on door to door campaigning. Bike rallies were taken out and appeals to vote for JMM-Congress alliance was also made.

BJP leaders too are confident of their victory. Senior BJP leaders kept touring both the constituencies and carried out massive public contact programme. Ex-CM and Vice-President of BJP Raghubar Das himself led the by-election campaigning for BJP.
