Stand-off on Telco Town Maintenance workers continues, workers’ list on Sept 1

Jamshedpur: The stand-off on the issue of retrenching of contract workers engaged in town maintenance work in Telco continues as the tripartite talk held in DLC office on Friday failed.

According to information received, a tripartite talk was held in Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office on Friday. It was attended by DLC Rajesh Prasad, representatives of contractor and MLA Ramdas Soren.

The workers insisted on engaging all workers. However, the contractor made it clear that all workers cannot be engaged and only half of them can be engaged in work.

This made the talks fail. However, the contractor said that a list of the workers who would be engaged again in work would be issued on September 1.

Ramdas Soren speaks about tripartite talks.

Ramdas Soren, who is representing the workers, has made it clear that the agitation of workers would continue if names of all workers are not included in the list.
