Central Durga Puja Committee President Tarachand Mahanty is no more

Jamshedpur: The president of Central Durga Puja Committee of Jamshedpur Tarachand Mahanty died on Sunday. News of his death has sent a wave of shock and grief throughout the people associated with Durga Puja Committee and Utkal Samaj.

Tarachand Mahanty was a very active person.

Central Durga Puja Committee has expressed deep grief over the demise of its president.

Committee members organised a prayer and condolence meeting as soon as they heard the news about his demise.

The committee has said in a statement that late Tarachand Mahanty had served the committee for more than 50 years. He had started as a member of the committee and reached the post of president of the committee and in the process has contributed immensely.

His absence would be felt deeply by the committee.
