JAMSHEDPUR – In a significant move towards eradicating homelessness, the Jharkhand state government has embarked on an ambitious initiative, providing three-room furnished pucca houses to the needy under the Abua Awas Yojana.

Chief Minister Champai Soren, at the Kolhan divisional level program in Jamshedpur’s Gopal Maidan, announced the provision of acceptance letters to 24,827 beneficiaries for the scheme’s first phase, alongside a financial transfer of Rs 74 crore 48 thousand via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The scheme aims to cover 1 lakh 92 thousand 624 identified beneficiaries across East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.

The Chief Minister emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards middlemanship and negligence, ensuring a transparent and fair allocation of houses to all eligible beneficiaries. Highlighting the legacy of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Champai Soren credited him for his leadership and efforts to maintain the state’s stability during the pandemic, including facilitating the return of migrant workers.

The government’s approach, as outlined by Champai Soren, is rooted in grassroots governance, with initiatives like “Aapki Yojana – Aapki Sarkar – Aapke Dwar” ensuring the reach of government schemes to the most remote populations. The scheme also pledges to uphold justice, rights, and support for the tribal and underprivileged communities, alongside infrastructural and educational advancements, including universal pension benefits and opportunities for competitive education and overseas scholarships.

The presence of key officials and dignitaries at the event underscored the government’s commitment to comprehensive development and social welfare.
