District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri Leads Meeting on Traffic and Road Safety Measures

Jamshedpur’s District Magistrate reviews road safety measures, emphasizes on youth awareness, and mandates strict actions against traffic violations to enhance road safety.

JAMSHEDPUR – A meeting of the District Traffic and Road Safety Committee was held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri.

The meeting was conducted online with departmental officers participating.

Focus was on reviewing road accidents, vehicle checking, and safety awareness programs.

Private hospitals are encouraged to admit accident victims during the golden hour without legal concerns.

The District Magistrate emphasized the importance of humanity in emergency medical responses.

A directive was issued for a meeting with private hospital managers to discuss Good Samaritan and Golden Hour protocols.

Concerns were raised over the increase in road accidents, with 38 accidents in November resulting in 31 deaths and 21 injuries.

Special attention was urged for youth during the festive season to prevent overspeeding.

Parents and schools were advised to prevent minors from using vehicles.

Intensive campaigns against rash driving and drink-and-drive cases were ordered.

Immediate FIR filing was mandated for drink-and-drive offenses.

Citizens were reminded of their responsibility to follow traffic rules for everyone’s safety.

Road marking and signage were deemed essential to prevent accidents due to overspeeding or wrong-way driving.

NHAI, RCD, and Jusco were instructed to install necessary road safety features.

Jusco was specifically directed to enhance safety measures on Marine Drive Road.

Police checks were ordered to combat overspeeding on highways.

In November, 215 driving licenses were suspended, and around Rs 36 lakh was collected in fines.

Safety standards in school buses and vans are to be scrutinized, with regular road safety awareness programs in educational institutions.

Psychologists’ help was suggested for youth awareness campaigns.

The District Magistrate called for expedited compensation payments for road accident victims.

22 out of 41 cases have received compensation, with efforts to resolve pending cases.

Officials present included Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Majhi, and other key personnel.
