Unfunded Teachers in Jharkhand Amplify Agitation Ahead of Assembly Session

Jharkhand Unfunded Educators Intensify Protests for Demand Fulfillment

Jharkhand’s unfunded teachers to escalate their movement, demanding government attention.

RANCHI – With the winter session of the Jharkhand Assembly set to begin this Friday, the Jharkhand Vittarahit Shiksha Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha, an organization representing unfunded teachers, has announced plans to intensify their agitation.

Their phased movement starts on December 15, with over 10,000 teachers and staff from various unfunded institutions, including Sanskrit schools, high schools, madrassas, and inter colleges, participating in a fast.

The movement is a response to several unresolved demands and will continue in stages.

On December 18, an academic strike will occur, with all participating institutions locking their doors and suspending educational activities.

Teachers and staff will protest the state’s no-finance policy at their respective institutions.

The protests will escalate on December 19 with a demonstration in front of the Jharkhand Assembly.

Following this, on December 20 and 21, teachers across Jharkhand will gherao the residences of their MLAs.

If their demands remain unmet, the next step includes surrounding the Chief Minister’s residence.

These actions were finalized in a recent meeting of principals and teacher representatives from across the state, chaired by Surendra Jha and conducted by A Tiwari.

The group’s demands include a fourfold grant increase to unfunded institutions and the recognition of unfunded education workers as state employees.

The detailed plans for these protests were reviewed and finalized at the Morcha’s meeting on Thursday, attended by key representatives including Raghunath Singh, Kundan Kumar Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Harihar Prasad Kushwaha, Arvind Singh, Manish Kumar, and Ganesh Mahato.
