The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry is advocating for an increase in the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) and elimination of the open space mandate in Jamshedpur, aligning with practices in other Indian cities.

JAMSHEDPUR – The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry has appealed to the Director of the Development Authority, Amit Kumar, I.A.S., to increase the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in Jamshedpur.

In addition, the Chamber has asked to remove the requirement for open spaces.

This proposal aligns Jamshedpur with many other Indian cities that have adopted similar measures.

This information was jointly communicated by Chairman Vijay Anand Moonka and Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia.

The Chairman explained that in most of the country’s mini-metro cities, the FAR is significantly higher than in Jharkhand, and there is no requirement to maintain open space.

However, in densely populated Jamshedpur, the FAR is currently limited to three, with a 50% open space requirement.

Considering the high land costs and dense population, the Chairman argues that this policy is not justifiable.

Given the current circumstances, the Chamber has requested that the Director of the Urban Development Authority increase the FAR from three and reduce the open space requirement from 50% to zero.

They believe this adjustment will improve the living standards of the residents of Jamshedpur.
