  • Bolero Windows Smashed by Mob
  • Police Appeal Against Rumor-Mongering

BOKARO – Five sadhus were beaten and their vehicle vandalized in Banshidih of Bokaro after rumors of child theft spread, prompting swift police intervention.

Tension escalated in Banshidih locality of Bokaro on Friday afternoon. However, the unrest followed rumors alleging child lifting.

Local residents surrounded five traveling sadhus. Meanwhile, several people began assaulting them.

The mob then attacked their Bolero vehicle. Moreover, the crowd shattered multiple windowpanes.

Police from Chas police station arrived quickly. However, officers had to disperse the gathering.

The sadhus were escorted to safety. Meanwhile, they were taken to the police station for questioning.

Eyewitnesses said the men stepped out of their vehicle. However, they grew suspicious when the sadhus spoke with children.

Some locals noticed another plate beneath the number plate. In contrast, that observation intensified public suspicion.

During interrogation, the sadhus denied any criminal intent. Moreover, they said they were residents of Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh.

They stated they travel to earn daily wages. However, they insisted they were not child abductors.

They handed over Aadhaar cards for verification. Meanwhile, police initiated identity checks.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Chas urged calm. Moreover, Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh appealed against spreading rumors.

He requested citizens not to take the law into their hands. Meanwhile, authorities said legal action would follow based on findings.

Rumor-driven violence has occurred earlier in Jharkhand. However, police continue awareness campaigns across districts including Ranchi and Dhanbad.

Recent incidents such as the minor assault case and the school beating allegation had also drawn attention in Bokaro. Meanwhile, investigators are probing the body near BS City College case.
