  • Strict legal action promised against drug cultivation and trafficking

CHANDIL – In a continued crackdown against illegal opium cultivation, the police destroyed opium crops spread across 3 acres of land in the Choka police station area on Thursday. This comes just two days after a similar operation uprooted illegal crops across 5 acres in Gutiuli and Lapaibeda villages.

Police Crackdown Intensifies

The anti-opium operation was conducted under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Chandil, along with officers from Choka police station and SSB’s Matkamdih company commander and his team. The illegal crops, hidden deep within the forest between Jurgu and Raidih villages, were uprooted using tractors.

Earlier, in the first phase, awareness campaigns were held across sensitive police station areas to educate villagers about the harmful effects of narcotics. Police Superintendent Mukesh Kumar Luniyat emphasized that similar operations would continue.

Stern Warning Against Drug Trafficking

SP Mukesh Kumar Luniyat urged innocent farmers to remain cautious of opium traffickers and focus on traditional agriculture. He assured that strict action would be taken against those involved in illegal cultivation and narcotics trade.

He said, “We will not tolerate any laxity in tackling illegal businesses. Those found involved will face severe legal consequences.”

The authorities aim to eradicate the roots of illegal drug production while promoting lawful agricultural practices among local communities.
