Jharkhand Tightens Fireworks Regulations for Festivals

New rules limit fireworks to two hours on major holidays, 35 minutes on NYE

Key Points:

• Jharkhand restricts fireworks to 2 hours on Diwali, Chhath, Guru Parva

• New Year’s Eve fireworks limited to 35 minutes

• Firecrackers over 125 decibels banned, silent zones protected

JAMSHEDPUR – Jharkhand authorities have implemented strict fireworks regulations for upcoming festivals to combat noise pollution.

The Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board has introduced new time restrictions for fireworks during major festivals.

On the other hand, these regulations aim to strike a balance between festive celebrations and environmental concerns.

For Diwali, revelers can enjoy fireworks from 8 PM to 10 PM.

Meanwhile, Chhath celebrations allow fireworks from 6 AM to 8 AM.

Guru Parv festivities permit fireworks between 8 PM and 10 PM.

However, New Year’s Eve celebrations face tighter restrictions, with fireworks allowed only from 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM.

Moreover, the Jharkhand High Court has taken steps to address noise pollution in Ranchi.

The court has ordered that noise complaints be kept confidential to encourage reporting.

In addition, only firecrackers with a sound capacity below 125 decibels will be permitted for sale.

Furthermore, a 100-meter radius around silent zones will be off-limits for fireworks.

"These measures are crucial for maintaining a peaceful environment during festive times," remarked a local environmental expert.

The authorities have warned of strict action against violators under the Air Pollution Prevention Control Act.

Besides, the new regulations reflect a growing concern for public health and environmental impact.
