JAMSHEDPUR – Loyola School organizes a crucial workshop to educate staff on child safety laws and creating secure environments for students.

A one-day workshop on child protection was held for Loyola School support staff.

The event took place at both Telco and Bistupur campuses of Loyola School.

Chandana Bose from CACA group, Kolkata, led the workshop as the resource person.

She emphasized the importance of the POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act.

Moreover, Bose stressed the need for creating safe environments for children in schools.

The workshop focused on increasing awareness about children’s rights and safety.

Furthermore, attendees learned to recognize signs of discomfort in students.

Bose explained that children often struggle to express concerns at home.

However, schools can provide a platform for these issues to surface more clearly.

The POCSO Act of 2012 was a key topic of discussion during the workshop.

Additionally, detailed information on the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015 was shared.

"Immediate attention is crucial when children show signs of distress," stated a school official.

In 2019, the POCSO law was amended to include stricter punishments for offenders.

On the other hand, the Juvenile Justice Act focuses on reforming underage offenders.

The workshop emphasized the importance of sensitivity towards children’s wellbeing.

Attendees were advised to be vigilant about students’ comfort levels in various settings.

"Using appropriate language is vital for creating a positive environment," noted a participant.

Principal Father Vinod Fernandes and other school leaders attended the workshop.

The event underscored the collective responsibility in ensuring child safety at schools.
