BJP, Congress leaders clash over Arjun Munda’s alleged NGT application regarding Jamshedpur settlements

Controversial claims and counterclaims emerge as local politicians debate the truth behind a disputed NGT letter.

JAMSHEDPUR – A heated dispute has erupted among political figures over an alleged National Green Tribunal application concerning Jamshedpur settlements.

Binod Singh, BJP’s Ranchi Rural District In-charge, held a press conference to refute accusations made by former MP Dr. Ajoy Kumar.

Singh asserted that Kumar had misrepresented a letter written by former Union Minister Arjun Munda to the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

According to Singh, the letter’s actual intent was to halt construction by large developers in the Dalma area and near rivers for environmental protection.

"Kumar’s actions have consistently favored capitalists, both during his time as SP and in the corporate sector," Singh claimed.

He further alleged that Kumar only becomes active during elections, spreading baseless accusations against BJP leaders.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar’s Allegations

Former MP Dr. Ajoy Kumar accused BJP leader Arjun Munda of misleading the NGT and engaging in political deceit.

Kumar questioned Munda’s involvement in environmental matters, given his role as Union Minister for Tribal Affairs.

"Why would Munda, as Tribal Affairs Minister, meddle in environmental issues? The truth behind the NGT application will soon come to light," Kumar stated.

He also criticized Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy for allegedly failing to prevent house demolitions and adequately address the issue.

Saryu Roy’s Response

MLA Saryu Roy held a press conference to counter Kumar’s claims, labeling them as misinformation and deceit.

Roy revealed that Munda had confirmed writing to the NGT only about environmental damage caused by multi-storey constructions on riverbeds.

"Munda has denied any involvement in requesting house demolitions. Kumar should either produce the letter or publicly apologize for his misleading statements," Roy demanded.

Public Warning

Former BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar President Rambabu Tiwari urged voters to be cautious of leaders like Kumar and Roy.

Tiwari accused both politicians of deceiving the public and manipulating sentiments for personal gain.

He claimed that during Kumar’s tenure as SP in the 1990s, over 100 residents of Long Tong Basti had their houses demolished.

Tiwari expressed confidence in the electorate’s ability to see through these leaders’ statements.
