JMM-Backed Dolly Mallik Vows to Champion Women and Traders in Jugsalai Poll

Candidate Accuses BJP of Divisive Politics, Urges Voters to Back Symbol No. 3

Key Points:

  • Dolly Mallik campaigns across Jugsalai, pledges women empowerment and trade hub vision
  • She accuses BJP of communal politics, says rival camp deploying central-level leaders
  • Mallik appeals for votes on bangle symbol, serial number 3, in municipal election

JAMSHEDPUR – JMM-backed candidate Dolly Mallik conducted an extensive door-to-door campaign across several Jugsalai localities on Wednesday, promising to work for women’s dignity and trader welfare if elected chairperson of the Jugsalai Municipal Council.

Mallik covered Gaurishankar Road, Naya Basti, Bora Patti, and Purani Basti Road during the outreach drive. Hundreds of party workers accompanied her throughout the campaign trail.

Addressing corner meetings along the route, she said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government had already worked to strengthen women financially through the Maiyyan Samman Yojana. She added that she would make every possible effort to ensure that women in the area received the benefits of state government schemes meant for their upliftment.

Mallik also highlighted her background as a member of a trading family. “I understand the pain of traders in this area because I come from a business household myself,” she said. She pledged to resolve trader grievances and work towards making Jugsalai a clean, safe, and fear-free trade hub.

She further claimed that the people of Jugsalai were aware of who had stood by them through hardship for the past 15 years. On the other hand, she alleged that rival candidates had no development record to show and were therefore deploying national-level leaders to campaign in what she described as a small-scale local election.

“Central ministers will not come to solve local problems,” she said. “Once the election clouds clear, they will disappear and will rarely be seen again.”

Mallik also took aim at BJP directly, accusing the party of attempting to polarise voters along religious lines. She alleged that BJP sought to win every election by raising Hindu-Muslim issues. In contrast, she said her campaign had consistently worked across communities without any discrimination.

She urged voters to identify those who only sought to divide society for electoral gain and to reject them at the Jugsalai municipal poll. Mallik appealed to voters to press the bangle symbol at serial number 3 on the ballot.

The election symbols for municipal candidates in East Singhbhum were allocated earlier this month. The BJP had named its candidates for the Mango and Jugsalai elections on February 3. Meanwhile, unopposed victories in some wards have already shaped part of the Jugsalai civic poll picture. In a related development, Nutan Singh had withdrawn from the race and extended support to Rinku Singh earlier this month.

Among those present during Wednesday’s campaign were Mamta, Rima, Vicky Sonkar, Dinesh Jaiswal, Ankush Sahni, Babu, and Mukesh Sharma, along with hundreds of other supporters.
