JAMSHEDPUR – Tensions have escalated in Jugsalai as chairman candidates exchange allegations and one contender seeks security ahead of the municipal vote.

Political activity has intensified in Jugsalai ahead of the municipal council chairman election. However, the campaign has turned contentious in recent days.

Hidayat Khan has levelled serious accusations against chairman candidate Neelofar Hussain. Meanwhile, Hussain rejected the charges during a media interaction.

She alleged attempts to influence the election process. Moreover, she claimed a conspiracy was being plotted against her.

She said she fears for her life amid the controversy. Therefore, she has sought adequate security from authorities.

In addition, she has decided to approach the court over the matter. She stated that legal steps would ensure transparency.

“I will pursue the matter legally to bring out the truth,” she said. However, she maintained that the election must remain impartial.

Supporters of both camps have reacted strongly across the area. Meanwhile, discussions have intensified across political circles in Jamshedpur.

Earlier, 10 candidates filed nominations for the Jugsalai chief post, according to an official nomination report. Moreover, election symbols were recently allocated in East Singhbhum as per the symbol allocation update.

The Bharatiya Janata Party also announced its nominees for Mango and Jugsalai seats, as reported in the BJP candidate list. In addition, a recent development saw Nutan Singh withdraw and back another contender in the withdrawal announcement.

The administration has appealed for restraint from all sides. Meanwhile, officials urged cooperation to ensure peaceful polling.

Authorities said security arrangements would be reviewed if required. In contrast, political observers expect further clarity in coming days.
