Station Redevelopment Causes Heavy Losses to Tatanagar Parking Operator

Construction Materials Block Main Entrance Parking Since December 26

Key Points:

  • Parking operator Rajeev Ram faces daily revenue loss from reduced space
  • Heavy vehicles and construction materials occupy most parking area
  • Letter sent to Senior DCM demanding intervention and compensation measures

JAMSHEDPUR – The Tatanagar Railway Station redevelopment work is causing severe financial losses. Parking operator Rajeev Ram faces mounting difficulties. Moreover, passengers struggle to find parking space.

Construction began on December 26, 2025 without prior notice. The main entrance parking area became severely restricted. However, no alternative arrangements were made initially.

Heavy construction vehicles occupy significant parking space. Building materials block additional areas continuously. Furthermore, usable parking zones have reduced drastically.

Rajeev Ram operates through In On Construction company. He reported substantial daily revenue losses. Besides, passenger complaints have increased significantly.

The operator understands redevelopment importance. However, sudden construction disrupted his livelihood completely. In addition, no compensation mechanism was discussed beforehand.

Passengers face severe inconvenience daily. Finding parking spots takes considerable time. Moreover, many leave without parking their vehicles.

Ram wrote to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager. The letter addressed Chakradharpur Division of South Eastern Railway. Furthermore, he requested immediate intervention in the matter.

The parking operator demanded appropriate compensation measures. He suggested temporary revenue adjustments during construction. Besides, alternative parking arrangements were proposed urgently.

Local residents support the operator’s demands. They emphasize passenger convenience requirements. However, railway administration has not responded yet.

The parking facility previously operated smoothly. Daily collections remained consistent earlier. Moreover, adequate space accommodated all vehicle categories.

Current construction restricts two-wheeler parking significantly. Four-wheeler spaces have reduced by half. Furthermore, commercial vehicles cannot enter the premises.

Station redevelopment includes multi-level parking plans. Modern amenities will enhance passenger experience. However, current phase creates temporary hardships for operators.

Railway officials have not announced alternative arrangements. Temporary parking zones remain undesignated. In addition, no timeline was shared for construction completion.
