Man Found Dead in Village Well After Two Days Missing

JAMSHEDPUR – A middle-aged man’s body was recovered from a village well in Chakulia block, causing shock among local residents after he went missing two days earlier.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Budhiya Hansda. He had been missing since Thursday evening from Makri village. The village falls under Badamara panchayat in Chakulia block.

On Friday afternoon, a local woman went to fetch water. She visited the well belonging to Singho Murmu and Salkhu Murmu. However, she spotted a floating body in the well water.

The woman immediately informed village head Rajendra Hansda about the discovery. Moreover, the village head quickly contacted station in-charge Santosh Kumar. The police were notified without any delay.

ASI Pitambar Mandal reached the spot with his team members. Meanwhile, local villagers helped in retrieving the body from the well. The police conducted panchnama proceedings at the location.

Subsequently, the body was sent to Ghatshila for post-mortem examination. The forensic report will determine the exact cause of death. Station in-charge Santosh Kumar confirmed that investigation is underway.

“We are examining all possible angles in this case,” said a police source. The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear at present. Furthermore, the police are interviewing family members and local residents.

The village atmosphere has turned somber following the incident. Residents expressed shock over the unexpected death of Hansda. Besides, many villagers gathered at the well site during recovery operations.

Local authorities are maintaining strict vigilance in the area. In addition, the police have assured thorough investigation into the matter. The final report will provide clarity on whether it was accidental or suspicious.
