Company Successfully Tests API X65 ERW Pipes for Pure Hydrogen Transportation

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel achieves milestone in developing pipes for hydrogen transportation infrastructure.

The company’s Khopoli plant processed the groundbreaking API X65 ERW pipes. Tests proved successful.

Meanwhile, the steel originated from their Kalinganagar facility. The development process remained in-house.

Technical Achievement

The pipes underwent rigorous testing in Italy. RINA-CSM S.p.A validated their performance.

Moreover, these pipes can handle 100% pure gaseous hydrogen. They withstand high pressure conditions.

Market Impact

The demand for hydrogen-compliant steel will emerge by 2026-27. Requirements may reach 350KT.

Furthermore, steel pipelines offer economical mass transportation solutions. Market potential grows significantly.

This development supports India’s National Hydrogen Mission. Green hydrogen production targets expand.
