MEDININAGAR – A district-level farmer fair and crop exhibition was organized at Shivaji Maidan on Monday, showcasing agricultural advancements in Palamu. The event, hosted by the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperation, was inaugurated by Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore.

The fair commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by the minister, followed by welcoming dignitaries with plants and traditional garments. Minister Kishore emphasized the importance of improving irrigation systems and promoting cash crops to boost farmer income. He stated, “Irrigation infrastructure and rainwater management are critical for Palamu’s agriculture.”

Agricultural Focus and Developmental Proposals

Addressing the audience, the minister highlighted the need for collective efforts by representatives and officials to enhance agricultural output. He called for the establishment of an agricultural university, cold storage facilities, and proper irrigation arrangements in Palamu. He also proposed constructing a weir on the Koel River to improve water availability for farming.

Showcasing Innovations in Farming

The event featured stalls from various departments, including agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and horticulture. Exhibitions displayed local produce like vegetables and fruits. Experts from the Regional Research Center in Chianki shared technical farming knowledge, helping farmers adopt modern practices.

Active Participation and Contributions

Prominent attendees included DDC Shabbir Ahmed, who detailed government schemes for farmers, and progressive farmers who shared their experiences. Minister Kishore inspected the crop exhibition and praised the quality of showcased produce, urging farmers to adopt diverse practices like livestock rearing and horticulture.

Shalini Srivastava conducted the program, which saw attendance from Congress district president Bittu Pathak, local officials, and a large gathering of farmers.
