RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court accepted a PIL regarding the poor condition of NH-220’s four-kilometer stretch from Rasunchopa to Tiring border.

Advocate Akhilesh Srivastava presented evidence of deep potholes to the bench. The photographs showed dangerous road conditions affecting daily commute. Moreover, videos revealed potholes reaching depths of 2.5 feet.

Critical Infrastructure

The highway connects three states – Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. Meanwhile, several villages face isolation during monsoons. Furthermore, local residents struggle with transportation challenges since 2018.

“This route is vital for regional development,” remarked a legal expert. However, the road’s condition continues to worsen each year.

Legal Proceedings

The Chief Justice’s bench demanded immediate responses from authorities. The court served notices to multiple government bodies. Additionally, the NHAI must explain its maintenance strategy.

Community Impact

Three villages – Balidih, Palidih and Rasunchopa face severe connectivity issues. Meanwhile, accident risks increase daily on this stretch. Furthermore, local businesses suffer due to transportation hurdles.
