- Distribution planned for May 2025 after new academic session begins
- SC/ST/OBC students to receive higher financial support for bicycles
RANCHI – The Jharkhand government announced plans to provide bicycles to approximately 5 lakh Class 8 students in state-run schools.
The distribution will begin after the new academic session. Meanwhile, tender processes are scheduled for February-March 2025.
Implementation Plan
The Welfare Department submitted proposals for the initiative. “We expect 5 lakh students to benefit,” noted a department official.
Class 7 examinations will conclude in March 2025. Moreover, admissions will process before the April session begins.
Financial Support
SC/ST/OBC students will receive Rs 4,500 from the Welfare Department. Additionally, general category students get Rs 3,500 through the Education Department.
The scheme continues its three-year practice. Furthermore, direct bank transfers remain an alternative if tenders fail.
Administrative Oversight
Ministers Chamra Linda and Ramdas Soren support timely distribution. However, previous years saw direct money transfers due to tender issues.
The government aims to avoid past challenges. Besides, officials emphasize beginning-of-session distribution.
