RANCHI – The Khadi and Saras Festival, held at Morabadi Grounds since December 20, concluded today with a vibrant closing ceremony. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, the chief guest, extended his best wishes to the artisans and highlighted khadi’s deep connection to India’s cultural heritage and freedom struggle.
Governor and Leaders Highlight Khadi’s Importance
In his speech, Governor Gangwar stated, “Khadi is a vital part of our heritage and reminds us of India’s freedom movement.” Labor Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav emphasized that khadi aligns with the vision of “jobs for all” as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji also praised khadi industries for empowering women, saying, “Promoting khadi boosts women’s empowerment significantly.”

The festival’s immense popularity was evident as over 20,000 visitors thronged the venue on Monday alone. Featuring more than 100 stalls, the festival offered a variety of khadi products and handicrafts. Visitors enthusiastically shopped and enjoyed diverse cultural performances during the event.
