Bagbera Residents Unite to Demand Implementation of Rural Water Supply Scheme

Committee Forms Action Plan, Threatens Protest Over Delayed Pipeline Project

Key Points:

  • Committee to submit memorandum to DC on January 7 demanding water supply
  • Pipeline work incomplete in Bagbera and Har Guddu settlements
  • Vinod Ram appointed coordinator for planned protest movement

JAMSHEDPUR – The Bagbera Metropolitan Development Committee met at Hanuman Temple premises to address critical water supply concerns and form an action plan.

Local residents revealed that despite repeated promises, many areas still lack basic water infrastructure. “We have waited long enough for the promised pipelines and water connections,” said a community spokesperson.

Project Status and Challenges

Several settlements continue to face severe water scarcity. The department has failed to complete pipeline installation in multiple areas, affecting thousands of residents.

Moreover, existing infrastructure requires significant upgrades to meet growing demand. A recent government survey indicated that only 40% of households have direct water connections.

Community Response

The committee unanimously elected Vinod Ram as coordinator and Pavitra Pandey as women’s wing coordinator. Committee president Subodh Jha will lead the delegation.

In addition, residents took an oath at the Hanuman temple to remain united in their protest. Local officials estimate that over 200 community members attended the meeting.

Future Actions

The committee plans to present a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner on January 7. Similar water supply projects in neighboring areas have seen 80% completion rates.

Furthermore, they warned of protests if authorities fail to address their demands promptly. Recent government data shows a 30% increase in water supply complaints from the area.
