JAMSHEDPUR – The first day of 2025 marked grand celebrations across the city as residents embraced the New Year with zeal. Temples, especially the Sidhgora-based Manokamna Temple, witnessed significant crowds early in the morning.

A Sacred Start to the Year

Devotees thronged temples to perform the sacred water offering on the revered Dwadas Jyotirlinga. Many believe that beginning the year with these rituals ensures prosperity and happiness. “Starting the year with Lord Shiva’s blessings brings success to all endeavors,” a priest remarked.

The temple premises buzzed with activity as worshippers prayed for the well-being of their families. The atmosphere was filled with chants and devotional songs, creating a spiritual start to the New Year.

Cultural Importance of Rituals

Local priests shared that offering water to Lord Shiva is considered highly auspicious on New Year’s Day. “Faith in rituals binds people and strengthens their hopes for the coming year,” one of them added. Devotees echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the peace and positivity derived from these rituals.

Citywide Festivities

Apart from temple visits, residents engaged in community gatherings and celebrated in various ways. Streets were adorned with lights, and markets reflected the festive spirit, showcasing the collective enthusiasm for the New Year.
