JAMSHEDPUR – The dilapidated road on the Tatanagar Railway Station overbridge is set to undergo repairs. From December 28, vehicular movement on the overbridge will be restricted from 9 PM to 6 AM to facilitate uninterrupted repair work.
Repair Work Scheduled
The Railway Engineering Department has confirmed that the road from Gudri Market to the overbridge will be repaired. Orders for this work have been issued by the South Eastern Railway Zone. After years of neglect, the authorities are finally addressing the hazardous condition of the road.
Pothole-Ridden Road a Major Hazard
The overbridge road, riddled with numerous potholes, has been a source of inconvenience and risk for commuters. A local resident, Ramesh Kumar, remarked, “These potholes have existed for years. Temporary fixes were done, but the problem was never resolved permanently.”
Inauguration Never Took Place
Interestingly, the overbridge was never formally inaugurated due to cracks found during construction. At the time, Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister, and plans for the inauguration were scrapped. Despite these issues, the bridge was opened to the public without proper ceremonies, and its condition has continued to deteriorate over time.
