JAMSHEDPUR – The Tata Steel Nibandhit Karmachari Putra Sangh submitted a memorandum to the East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner on December 27, alleging violations of recruitment and welfare commitments.

The Sangh criticized Tata Steel for neglecting the recruitment of registered wards as per standing orders and the reservation policy.

Allegations of Disrespect

The memorandum, signed by union president Chetan Mukhi, expressed anger over the alleged disrespect towards Dalit and Adivasi sanitation workers. It claimed that the wards of these workers were unfairly labeled as “unqualified,” disregarding their rights under the reservation policy..

Dispute Over Bustee Amenities

The Sangh also raised concerns about tariff collections for water and electricity in sanitation workers’ bustees. According to the memorandum, such charges violate commitments made under standing orders, the reservation policy, and CSR norms, which promised free water and power in these areas.

Demands for Lease Renewal Halt

Frustrated by what it sees as inaction on these issues, the Sangh has urged the administration to stop the renewal of Tata Steel’s lease until these demands are addressed. The memorandum highlighted the Sangh’s repeated but ignored efforts to resolve the matter amicably.

Memorandum Submitted to DC Office

The memorandum was officially received by the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Sangh President Chetan Mukhi said that they are now awaiting a response from the administration and emphasized the importance of justice for the affected wards and sanitation workers.
