District Sets Dec 31 Deadline for Crop Insurance Scheme

Premium Just Rs 1 for Coverage up to Rs 1.68 Lakh per Hectare

JAMSHEDPUR – Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal has urged farmers to enroll in the Birsa Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme by December 31.

The scheme offers comprehensive coverage for the Rabi season 2024-25. It aims to provide financial security against crop losses.

“Only seven days remain for farmers to apply for this beneficial scheme,” stated an agriculture department official.

Easy Registration

Farmers can register through multiple channels. These include the district cooperative office and block offices.

Moreover, assistance is available through the toll-free helpline 14447. Detailed information is accessible on pmfby.gov.in/farmer.

Document Requirements

Applicants need to submit several documents. These include Aadhaar card and bank passbook copies.

Meanwhile, sharecroppers must provide notarized certificates. Self-attested crop sowing certificates are also required.

Coverage Details

The scheme offers substantial coverage per hectare. Wheat crops get coverage of Rs 58,178.

Furthermore, potato cultivation receives the highest coverage at Rs 168,075. Mustard and gram crops are insured for Rs 33,202 and Rs 45,325 respectively.

“This minimal premium ensures maximum protection,” added a district agriculture officer.
