JAMSHEDPUR – Administration conducted raids on shops near schools in Kadma area, following DC Ananya Mittal’s directives to curb tobacco sales near educational institutions.

The team included Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh.

Meanwhile, Food Safety Officer Manzar Hussain participated in the operation.

“We found seven shops violating COTPA regulations,” said an official.

Enforcement Details

Officials imposed fines totaling Rs 1400 on violators.

Moreover, the team inspected both shops and pan kiosks.

The raids focused on areas around DBMS and Jusco schools.

Official Warnings

SDO Majumdar emphasized the ban on tobacco sales near schools.

However, first-time offenders received warnings with penalties.

In addition, the team checked other food items being sold.

Future Actions

All seized tobacco products will be listed and destroyed.

Meanwhile, regular inspections will continue in the area.

“Repeat offenders will face strict legal consequences,” warned the SDO.
