Top Officials Issue Guidelines to Combat Illegal Opium Cultivation

RANCHI – Senior officials held a crucial review meeting to combat illegal opium cultivation and drug abuse in Chatra district of Jharkhand.
The meeting was chaired by Principal Secretary Vandana Dadel and DGP Anurag Gupta. Officials discussed pending NDPS cases and surveillance strategies.
“Strict action will be taken against officers failing to act on intelligence inputs,” said a senior police official familiar with the directives.
Enhanced Surveillance
The authorities identified Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ranchi and Latehar as severely affected districts. Moreover, police will coordinate with forest officials for better monitoring.
Meanwhile, GPS coordinates will be mandatory for all raid locations. Additionally, regular hotel inspections will be conducted along national highways.
Preventive Measures
The administration plans to establish de-addiction centers in affected districts. Furthermore, awareness campaigns will be conducted in schools and colleges.
On the other hand, police stations will maintain detailed records of drug offenders. Besides, thorough verification of seized vehicle owners has been mandated.
