JAMSHEDPUR – Vegetable vendors protested on Dimna Road against their eviction without alternative arrangements.
Vegetable vendors in Mango, Jamshedpur, organized a meeting and staged a protest on Wednesday. They opposed their removal from Dimna Road, demanding that the municipality provide them with a proper market space immediately.
Nearly a year ago, the vendors were shifted from the footpath. At that time, the municipal authorities promised to relocate them to a designated market area. However, this promise remains unfulfilled. The vendors had been conducting their business along the roadside since then.
Now, authorities are forcing them to vacate even this space. Vendors stated that their livelihoods are at risk without proper arrangements. They urged the municipality to take quick action and find an alternative location.
Vendors Voice Their Concerns
One of the protesting vendors said, “We were promised a market space, but nothing has been done yet. Evicting us without any arrangements is unjust.” Vendors also expressed concerns about the impact on local buyers who rely on fresh vegetables daily.
Traffic and Relocation Issues
The eviction drive is reportedly part of efforts to ease traffic congestion in Mango. However, vendors argue that relocating them abruptly without alternatives will only create more problems. They appealed to the municipal authorities to consider both public convenience and their livelihoods.
