RANCHI – Senior Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leaders Ramdas Soren and Deepak Birua were sworn in as ministers in the Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand cabinet on Thursday. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy during the ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

The cabinet expansion aims to strengthen governance, with both leaders bringing their experience and political acumen back into the fold.

Ramdas Soren’s Political Journey and Vision

Ramdas Soren, a prominent tribal leader from Ghatsila, previously served as the Minister of Water Resources, Higher Education, and Technical Education in Jharkhand. This is his second term as a minister, following a brief stint earlier.

Expressing his gratitude, Soren said, “Although my last tenure was short, I had initiated key projects. I am committed to delivering better results in my new role.” He also voiced confidence in the stability of the current government, declaring, “The INDI alliance government will remain in power for the next 20 years.”

Deepak Birua’s Political Resilience

Chaibasa MLA Deepak Birua, a four-term legislator, has also returned to the cabinet for the third time. Active in politics since the 1990s, Birua faced several electoral defeats before achieving success in 2009. He previously served as the Minister for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Backward Class Welfare.

Birua’s political journey reflects determination, with his first victory in the Chaibasa Assembly seat marking a turning point. Recalling his long path to success, he emphasized his dedication to the welfare of Jharkhand’s people.

Expectations and Next Steps

Both leaders reiterated their commitment to improving governance and uplifting the marginalized sections of society. Their portfolios are yet to be announced, but their return is seen as a significant step toward strengthening the Hemant Soren government.
