SERAIKELA – An unidentified body was found near Gamharia railway station early Friday morning, causing alarm in the area.

Local residents immediately informed the Adityapur police, who arrived at the scene and took the body into custody. The police later sent it for a post-mortem examination. Witnesses in the area believe the deceased was mentally unstable and may have wandered to the location from elsewhere.

Authorities revealed that a call about the person had been made to the 100 helpline the previous night. However, no rescue action was taken before the body was discovered. Residents reported spotting the individual around the station in recent days, raising questions about the response from authorities.

Police are currently working to identify the deceased and ascertain the cause of death. “We will have more clarity after the autopsy report,” said a police official. Officers have also begun questioning locals to gather more details about the incident.

This incident has sparked discussions about mental health care and emergency response measures in the area. Activists have pointed to a need for better systems to support vulnerable individuals in public spaces.
