Medininagar – A retired teacher, Parikhan Singh, was brutally murdered with a sharp weapon in Halumad village under Satbarwa police station, Palamu district. The crime has sparked shock and confusion among locals as police intensify investigations.

Police discovered Singh’s body on Sunday morning after villagers noticed it lying near the roadside. Items such as a torch were recovered from the scene. Singh’s throat had been slit, confirming the use of a sharp weapon. Police suspect foul play and are utilizing sniffer dogs to gather leads.

Singh’s Political Journey and Community Role

Parikhan Singh, a respected figure in the village, had led an active life even after retirement. In 2009, he contested the Manika assembly seat and had also participated in panchayat and district council elections. Known for his affable personality, Singh was widely regarded as peaceful and non-confrontational.

Ongoing Investigation

Satbarwa police have launched a detailed investigation under the supervision of the station in-charge. “The use of sniffer dogs is expected to help trace the perpetrators. We are examining all possibilities,” a police officer said. Meanwhile, locals remain baffled, as Singh was not known to have enemies. A conclusive motive is yet to be determined.
